Frequently Asked Questions

When should I get my portable gas detector calibrated?

For the reliable performance of your personal gas detector, it should be calibrated every six months as per manufacturer recommendations and Australian Standard AS/NZ 60079.29.2:2016. Carrying out a Bump Test prior to each use, will pick up any faults with the unit and verify a response to the gases it is monitoring for. If the unit fails the bump test it can be calibrated or returned to Test My Gear for Calibration & Service.

What is Test & Tag?

Portable Appliance Test [PAT] is also known as Test & Tag. A PAT test is carried out on an electrical appliance to confirm it is still fit for use. Once the test has been carried out the electrical item is tagged with the test date, who tested the item, and the next test due date.

Why should I get my breathalyser calibrated?

To maintain your breathalyser's accuracy the manufacturer recommendations should be taken into account. Most manufacturers recommend that a breathalyser is calibrated every 6 months to prevent false readings.
